Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

No U.S. land border[edit]

This article says Grand Isle County is the only U.S. county with no land border to another part of the U.S. However, both Dukes County, Massachusetts and Nantucket County, Massachusetts consist of islands, and therefore have no land border with another part of the U.S.

Is there a source for the original claim? Jesuschex 19:57, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Richmond County, NY (Staten Island) also comes to mind. Sounds dubious and there's no source so I'm removing this.Armandtanzarian 21:30, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

North/South Hero Legend?[edit]

Hey. There's a legend/fact that North and South Hero were named after Ethan and Ira Allen. I've heard people claim it to be true (It's what I've always heard) but someone has also told me it's just a myth. Does anyone know the truth? Maybe if they do, they should put something about it on the Islands page (either substantiating it or disproving it.)

-Actually, originally called "Two Heroes", although I've never seen any clear explaination of who the two heroes were. Original grant of ownership was given to Ethan Allen and Samuel Herrick in about the 1780's, and division into North/South/Grand Isle in the next couple of decades. Tfr001 02:27, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Was Grand Isle once part of Chittenden County?[edit]

The 1790 census lists towns from Grand Isle County on the list for Chittenden County. Does that mean the county was once part of Chittenden County? If so, that should be incorporated into the article's history section. Someone the Person (talk) 20:34, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
